Assistive Listening and Signaling Devices (ALD’s)
The Doctors of Audiology at Advanced Hearing Care offer many devices to enhance specific listening situations other than hearing aids.
1. Amplified telephone: Some people with hearing loss have a difficult time using their hearing aid with the telephone. An amplified telephone helps people feel comfortable talking on the phone by increasing the volume. Products vary in price and features available. The South Carolina Telecommunications Equipment Distribution Program provides South Carolina residents free amplified telephones. Please call Advanced Hearing Care for more information.
2. TV Listening System: These systems allow you to listen to the TV at the volume youwant without disturbing others. These systems connect directly to your TV and can be used with or without your hearing devices.
3. Alarms and Alerting Devices: Advanced Hearing Care offers a variety of devices that keep you safe and secure. Products include smoke detectors, infant devices, doorbell signalers and alarm clocks.
4. Personal Amplifiers: For people with hearing loss whereby hearing aids are not feasible, a pocket-sized personal amplifier may be considered. They are portable for use anywhere, indoors or out. They are great for one-on-one conversations and TV listening and can also be helpful for conversations in the car.
Custom noise protection Earplugs
At Advanced Hearing Care, we strongly believe in hearing loss prevention. You only have one set of ears and you need to protect the hearing you have. To accomplish this, we offer a full-range of custom hearing protection devices and earmolds for any person who is exposed to loud noises occupationally or recreationally. We have custom earmolds specifically for construction workers, industrial workers, heavy machinery operators, mechanics, pilots and airline personnel, race car drivers and fans, motorcycle and woodworking enthusiasts, and hunters.
Custom Musician Earmolds and Monitors
Many musicians don’t like to wear earplugs to protect their hearing. Speech and music seem muffled and their own voice hollow. Did you know that there are earmolds and monitors specifically made for musicians and recording engineers that allow for clear and more natural sound quality at a safer level for your ears. The Doctors of Audiology at Advanced Hearing Care have been supplying musicians in the Charleston area with custom musician earplugs for over twenty years. Remember, if you ruin your hearing, the music is over. Call our office for more details.
Custom Swimplugs
For those people who need to avoid getting water in their ears, custom swimplugs are your answer. Whether you enjoy engaging in watersports or have a hole in your eardrum and have to avoid an earful of water while taking a shower, you are a perfect candidate for swim/earplugs. They’re custom-made for a comfortable fit. Since they float, they’re difficult to lose and come in a wide array of color, including bright neons. The Doctors of Audiology at Advanced Hearing Care have been making and fitting custom plugs for over 25 years.
