Hearing Aid Tax credit

You most likely know someone who has a hearing loss.  Whether it affects a relative, child, friend or co-worker, or even yourself, hearing loss is a prevalent and often neglected concern.  Hearing loss affects over 30 million Americans or 1 in every 10 people.  In fact, it’s the second most common birth defect.  Despite these statistics, and the fact that hearing aids could treat 95% of all hearing loss, Medicare and most insurance policies exclude coverage, making treatment an out of pocket expense.  The Hearing Aid Tax Credit is legislation drafted with these concerns in mind.  If enacted, it would provide a $1000 tax credit for two hearing aids for dependents and adults 55+ every five years.

Dr. Mary Anne Larkin and Dr. Nicole Lynch, Audiologists with Advanced Hearing Care are launching a local campaign to support this legislation and make better hearing more affordable for those in the community.  They are encouraging everyone to support hearing aid tax credits and contact Congress in support of this legislation. You can help by going to http://www.hearingaidtaxcredit.org and communicate with your Senator and Representative to make your voice heard. All it takes is 3-4 minutes of your time.  The tax credit has been reintroduced in the House and will shortly be reintroduced in the Senate.  If you do not have a computer or cannot connect up with the internet, Dr. Larkin and Dr. Lynch encourage you to come to Advanced Hearing Care, conveniently located at 900 Johnnie Dodds Blvd. in Mt. Pleasant and obtain an already drafted letter that you can sign and mail immediately to your Senator and Representative.  Names and addresses of your congressmen can be obtained at Advanced Hearing Care also.

With healthcare reform on the horizon, there has been no better time to make your voice heard in support of this bill.  The tax credit has wide bi-partisan support, is supported by nearly every hearing healthcare organization and advocacy group, and addresses a real and too often ignored healthcare need.  Please help make the hearing aid tax credit a reality.  Contact your Congressmen and let them know that the Hearing Aid Tax Credit would make a real difference in your life.
