LACE Program
(Listening and Communication
Enhancement)
Advanced Hearing Care is proud to be the first office in the Charleston
area to incorporate the LACE (Listening and Communication Enhancement)
program into all of our hearing instrument fittings. LACE is an
interactive, computerized training program designed to enhance listening
and communication skills.
Effective use of listening strategies can enhance hearing in difficult
communication environments where benefit from amplification may be
compromised by background noise, competing voices, rapid speech, or
limited context cues. Understanding ability in these situations can
also be degraded by inner ear damage that accompanies sensorineural
hearing loss.
LACE provides individuals with training in helpful communication
strategies to combat these limitations. LACE is self-paced, meaning
the difficulty of the tasks increases as your skills increase. After
a few sessions, many users find they are able to conquer difficult
listening situations they had never imagined possible. At Advanced
Hearing Care, we are excited to now be able to provide LACE to you as a
way of improving quality of life through professional hearing care!
